Protecting other electrical components by maintaining stable battery voltage is the long term cost argument that most people don’t think about until something expensive fails. A weak battery causing voltage fluctuations stresses control modules and sensors in ways that add up over time. Replacing a battery on schedule is genuinely cheaper than the cascade of electrical issues that running on a declining battery can eventually cause.
