Roughly 40-65 USD for a 24-hour ticket depending on which company you go with, and here’s what a hop on hop off San Francisco tour actually gets you:
What’s typically included:
Unlimited hop-on hop-off rides for the duration of your ticket (24hr, 48hr, etc), usually with buses every 15-20 min. Open-top double-decker bus, route usually covers Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square, Chinatown, Golden Gate Bridge, Haight-Ashbury, sometimes Golden Gate Park. Pre-recorded or live commentary, often in multiple languages. A companion app to track live bus times.
What’s usually NOT included:
Entry fees to attractions (Alcatraz, museums, etc), food/drinks, tips, hotel pickup. Some tickets throw in a bonus sunset tour or a short walking tour, but that’s an upsell, not the base price.
Is it worth it: for a first full day in the city, yeah. A hop on hop off San Francisco ticket is basically paying 40-65 bucks for transportation + an overview tour + skipping the brutal hills between spots, which if you did as separate Ubers between all those stops would probably cost close to the same anyway, minus the commentary and the open-top views.
