Illinois is the most populous market in the Midwest and home to over 2000 corporate headquarters, a vibrant business scene, and more than 1.2 million small businesses, is home to all the resources global businesses require to succeed in today's competitive business. From world-class infrastructure which connects businesses with their suppliers and customers to a skilled workers in various fields as well as a modern manufacturing base, Illinois excels in a variety of areas like advanced and clean agriculture, energy, IT life sciences transportation logistics.
Illinois has seen tremendous foreign investment growth over recent years. Countries like Britain, Japan, Germany and China were among those most invested in Illinois in 2023. By that time, the amount was over USD $13.2 billion across manufacturing, agribusiness and other industries in Illinois all by itself.

Since 2014, nearly $1 billion in incentives has been given out under Illinois Reimagining Energy and Vehicles program to companies that provide electric vehicles as well as clean energy production. Last month, DCEO also rewarded PsiQuantum Manufacturing with an incentive package of more than $200 million for their new modern facility located in East Alton.
Governor JB Pritzker was joined by representatives from his organization, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network and local officials today in chicago sun times press release (pressez.blog.fc2.com) to launch CZ Biohub Chicago - a revolutionary research hub located in the forefront of research. This initiative will bring together University of Chicago, Urbana-Champaign State University (UIUC) and Northwestern University researchers to study the human development of tissues as well and develop revolutionary therapies.
Governor JB Pritzker and Flender Corporation recently announced they have announced they are expanding their current manufacturing facility in Elgin which will create 50 full-time employment while keeping the 140 full-time jobs they have currently.

The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Southern Illinois University is funded by a co-operative agreement among U.S. Small Business Administration, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Southern Illinois University. The Center assists local entrepreneurs with assistance for creating or expanding their businesses with services that include free workshops on business planning, one-on-one counseling sessions with experienced Business Advisors as well as access to financing options.
State officials in Indiana are pushing employers to offer better wages and benefits as a means of keeping childcare workers employed nationwide, who face a shortage of employment. This follows the closure of a care center located in Bronzeville that struggled to keep its employees.
Illinois Department of Labor also created an online tool to educate small businesses on the laws governing employment. Employers can search using keywords or browse categories on the site, and connect to appropriate state agencies and sources.
Illinois Business Development Authority (IBDA) is working to raise awareness of Illinois' tax incentives for expanding businesses by hosting an interactive webinar on the subject. The webinar was recorded and will later appear on the website.
