Been noticing this a lot lately searching for a specialist in my area and getting either outdated listings, clinics with barely any reviews, or websites that don’t even load properly on my phone. Curious if others have run into the same thing.

I ended up doing a bit of reading into this because it was bugging me, and apparently it’s a bigger issue than I thought. A huge number of patients now Google a doctor before booking (something like 8 out of 10), and almost as many check reviews first. So if a clinic’s online presence is weak slow site, no reviews, doesn’t show up for the right searches it basically doesn’t exist to a lot of people, even if it’s a genuinely good clinic just five minutes away.

It kind of explains why the same 2-3 hospital names keep showing up no matter what I search, even in areas where I know there are other decent options. They’ve just got their online visibility sorted (good local listings, active Google Business profiles, decent reviews, mobile-friendly sites) while smaller or newer clinics haven’t caught up yet.

A few things I learned that actually make a difference for a clinic showing up properly:

Keeping their Google Business Profile updated (hours, specialties, photos)
Genuine, actively managed patient reviews
Fast-loading, mobile-friendly websites
Clear service pages that actually match what people search for (not just vague medical jargon)
